By way of background, here's a bit more about me: 

​​

MALAIKA R. SIMMONS’ is a Wall Street-trained corporate attorney turned insurance executive turned writer who is represented by Taj McCoy of the Laura Dail Literary Agency. 

​

Malaika's love of writing dates back to early childhood. Throughout school, she trained in journalistic writing, including attending an intensive program at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

 

In law school, she developed and refined her writing and editorial skills as a member of the Editorial Board of the Columbia Law Review. There, she passionately pushed for the publication of authors of color on a range of civil rights and social justice issues.

​

In addition to writing, Malaika is an executive leader and corporate attorney. She is also the founder of a communications consulting firm.

​

Malaika earned a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School and a BA, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania.

​

When she’s not writing, Malaika enjoys acting, running, traveling, watching football, and spending time with her family and friends.
